Mistake 1: Not Researching About the Country’s Culture


Out of every 10 job seekers, only 2 care to study how the target country’s culture affects the job search. Being born and bred in the country does not acquaint you with its work culture. Since you’ve been away from your home country for long, there can be certain important changes that you might not be aware of. Therefore, it becomes imperative for you to study how the target industry and the target company and its competitors work in your native place before beginning your job search.  


Mistake 2: Omitting the data from the resume


You should never take off the details of any of your job, even if it is irrelevant, from your resume. Recruiters don’t like candidates to hide their professional data. Moreover omitted data may turn up in background checks run by companies, making the employers feel suspicious of your credibility. Since you are coming from entirely a different country, you should be highly meticulous about these small things. However, you can still de-emphasize the old and irrelevant data by listing it under ‘Additional Work Experience’.


Mistake 3: Ignoring the Latest Resume Trends


If you are still presenting your resume data in an old fashioned way, you are leading yourself to nowhere. Companies get hundreds of resumes each day. Therefore you should try to stand apart the crowd. Document the impact of your work and accomplishments through quantitative means. Your resume must have your career objective on the top to let the potential employers know what you are actually striving for as a professional. You may also add a synopsis of your achievements.

Mistake 4: Not Caring About Your Online Identity.


Social media is taking the world by storm. It seems as if it has become compulsory for every professional to maintain his/her online identity. Well, you have to too careful of what you post about yourself online. Post the data that showcases you as an online brand and make you raise above the pack.
